Payroll Tax Specialist

The Payroll Tax Specialist is primarily responsible for setting up, maintaining and closing all Multi-State client accounts, as well as making payments, submitting reports and processing corrections to ensure compliance with all agencies in a timely manner. The Payroll Tax Specialist is the main point of contact and subject matter expert for tax and payment related questions for both clients and internal staff.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities

• Review daily Due Date Report for any Multi State payments in both iSolved and MasterTax
• Assist with high-level IRS and CA items
• Discuss any issues with Operations Manager for research
• Audit and update liabilities on Due Date Report as needed
• Prepare, process and submit payments for multi-state taxes according to required frequency in both iSolved and MasterTax
• Process special payments electronically or by check, based on agency notices received
• Verify totals and maintain backup and documentation on all payments
• Audit payroll reports for new hires for Multi-State clients
• Perform quarterly and year-end audits, and submit reports to agencies for Multi-State clients
• Research, respond to, and resolve any Multi-State tax notices received in a timely manner, communicating steps with client
• Inactivate Multi-State accounts and Revoke Multi-State POA's for cancelled clients
• Communicate with clients regarding their Multi-State accounts and any action required or information requested
• Point of contact and support for any items pertaining to Multi-State taxes
• Assist with tax setup for new clients and corrections for current clients
• Process tax and wage corrections and QEC's when necessary
• Manage amendments process for all tax agencies
• Annual review and update of Multi State rates and tax frequencies
• Collect funds or refund clients based on tax rate changes, incorrect calculations, or system errors
• Backup for Tax Specialist and Cash Management Specialist
• Major participation in quarterly and year-end return process
• Adhere to the concept of team and assist in other areas as situations require
• Follow all directives, policies, and procedures issued by the PAYDAY Management Team

Education & Experience

• College graduate a plus
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
• Service Bureau Payroll experience preferred (1 - 2 years)
• Payroll tax experience (minimum 3 - 5 years)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Knowledge of iSolved software a plus
